Human Factors Training — Turnpoint Aero, London Heathrow

Dr Seddon completed CPR training, followed by a unique course run by Turnpoint at London Heathrow.

This course was delivered by industry-leading experts with backgrounds in dentistry, aviation, and psychology. Designed for dentists, by dentists and aviation professionals, the one-day course explored how lessons learned from aviation can be applied within a dental context to improve patient safety and reduce human error — including best-practice models pilots have used for decades to reduce stress, manage high workload, and problem-solve under pressure to produce favourable outcomes.

International Academy of Endodontists Meeting — Scottsdale, USA (2018)

In June 2018, we attended the exclusive International Academy of Endodontists meeting in Scottsdale, USA — our third time at this event. It remains one of the most valuable meetings in the field, particularly memorable as there was only one other UK delegate present that year.

TDO User Meeting — San Diego (2018)

In October 2018, we attended the TDO User Meeting in San Diego — a superb meeting that included hearing the world-famous psychologist Gerd Gigerenzer speak about decision making.

It was a great opportunity to chat with clinicians from Mexico, Brazil, Canada, USA, Russia, the Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. Hearing such varied opinions is invaluable, and it's a reminder not to get stuck in just one way of thinking and treating.

This was a remarkable meeting, and it confirmed something we hold to this day: we need to put the patient first, read the scientific literature with great care, and never simply believe the first thing we're told. Too many mistakes are made by clinicians using new materials and techniques without evidence of improved patient outcomes.

Middle East Teaching Tour — Saudi Arabia (2018)

In 2018, Dr Seddon led four hands-on courses for Saudi endodontists across three cities, reaching an audience of over 270 dentists, alongside dental practice visits and one-to-one specialist training. He also taught at a Military Hospital, to an audience of orthodontists, oral surgeons, implantologists, and restorative consultants.

The courses, running past midnight given the level of interest in microscope-based techniques, received strong feedback from delegates and organisers alike, reflecting the growing international demand for advanced endodontic training.
