An idea more than 30 years in the making

I first heard Gary Carr lecture in 1995. His approach to endodontics — particularly the transformative role of the operating microscope — fundamentally changed the direction of my practice.

Many concepts described as innovations in endodontics today were already being taught by Gary then. I’ve continued to learn from him ever since, probably attending more of his lectures than anyone else in Europe.

In 2003 I visited Gary’s endodontic practice in California. Seeing a practice designed entirely around endodontics planted the seed for something I hoped one day to create myself.

Over the following two decades, Seddonendo developed as a referral-only endodontic practice. Thousands of cases, continual learning, teaching and, importantly, long-term follow-up have shaped the way we work today.

In 2026 that long-held idea finally became Seddonendo at Barlborough Links.

For the first time, we’ve been able to create a centre around the way we believe endodontics should be practised — dedicated clinical facilities, CBCT imaging and an Education Centre where we can continue to learn and share ideas with colleagues.

The equipment has changed enormously since 1995. The underlying philosophy hasn’t: technology is valuable because of what it allows us to see, understand and do — not simply because it is new.

We don’t aim to be everyone’s endodontic referral practice. We aim to be the right referral partner for dentists who value thoughtful diagnosis, careful treatment, good communication and long-term professional relationships.
